April 5th 2017
Presentation by Julian Slade and Greg Ruckert on South African bulbs.

Greg spoke of his trip to arrange the purchase of Lachenalia bulbs and seeds to import to Australia. Photos of a nursery propagating and hybridising bulbs in large numbers with many being started from leaf cuttings. These bulbs are being grown for cut flowers.
Julian showed photos of three trips to the areas with huge numbers of naturally occurring bulbs. Some were in large drifts of colour while others in a diverse mix of different individual bulbs. Many species of Moraea, Lachenalia, Massonia, Ixia and others. An amazing area to explore with good roads, interesting road rules and safe for travellers.
