The speaker in October 2016 was Greg Ruckert

Greg's subject was "Photography for beginners". Greg gave some simple advice for novice photographers to improve the quality of photos submitted for judging. Experiment with background colours by trying the same bloom with different coloured paper backgrounds. Background colour can change the colour of the bloom. Keep back ground colour matt, avoid textured backgrounds, avoid shadows by having light source at 45 degree angle to background. Don’t use flash. Paper can be stood behind bloom fixed by peg to leaves or propped with a ruler and knitting needle. Point and shoot cameras can be zoomed in to focus. Mobile phones have very good cameras now and photos can be downloaded to computers or Dropbox.
